Trend and its patents

Fresh from trolling other AV vendors, Trend has turned its sites on ClamAV, the major open source AV solution which was recently purchased by Sourcefire. If particular, Trend is going after Barracuda Networks, a vendor that provides commercial network security appliances that include ClamAV. Unlike other vendors that have settled out of court, Barracuda has opted to fight Trend’s action and has some very compelling prior art including the fact that one of the patent initiators at Trend was in fact previously working on Intel’s AV product – go figure!!!
